Servicing the PYI PSS Dripless Shaft Seal

PYI recommends the PSS bellows and the two “O” rings inside the stainless steel rotor (SS Rotor) be changed every seven years. Their standard is based on time, not engine hours as the bellows are under pressure and over time they loose their elasticity. A dry bilge is dependent on steady pressure being applied to the mating surfaces between the SS Rotor and the Carbon Stator by the bellows.
